Humor of a 4-year old

So Trevor is back in his old Preschool, Educare. Their form of discipline is "sit & watch", where the child is pulled back from the activity if he/she is misbehaving or being distracting, but allowed to watch the activity and then encouraged to rejoin the group when they are ready.
Yesterday I picked up Trevor from Educare and we started our normal conversation as we made our way to the car....how was your day? what did you have for lunch? did you play with *insert names of classmates*? And Trevor says, "I got a sit & watch today." I say, "hmmm...really? What happened?" He proceeds to go into great detail telling me that Brittany, one of the teachers, thought Trevor pushed Ian down, but Trevor is insisting he didn't do it. I ask if he told Brittany that and he says he did but that she wouldn't listen and put him in sit & watch anyway. As I ponder this, carefully picking a response, he suddenly giggles and says, "No! I'm just kiddin'! I didn't get ANY sit & watches!" Such a trickster. Who'd have thought a 4-year old could pull off a straight-faced story on his own mommy? I made him do it for daddy later, who also fell for the somber faced little guy telling his tale of woe. Too cute. Until he does this in 10 years....
